In 2010, Mario recorded his first CD Aquellas Viejas Alegrías, featuring arrangements by guitarist Néstor Basurto — a work that marked the beginning of his recording career and his commitment to preserving the classic Tango repertoire.

His landmark production recorded at Criteria Recording Studios in Miami, arranged by multi-Grammy winner Jorge Calandrelli, features Argentine masters such as Néstor Marconi, Cristian Zárate, Humberto Ridolfi, Juan Pablo Navarro, and Esteban Falabella, preserving the golden era of Tango with a world-class contemporary sound.
"Born into a lineage of Argentine musicians, Mario Centeno is an international Tenor whose career is defined by technical excellence and emotional depth. Formed in the rigorous tradition of Lyrical Singing and Guitar, he has graced prestigious stages such as the Teatro Argentino de La Plata and the most iconic Tango venues in San Telmo.
His artistry reached a global milestone with a production recorded at the legendary Criteria Recording Studios in Miami, a state-of-the-art facility known as the 'Vatican of recording studios.' Arranged by the multi-Grammy winner Jorge Calandrelli (famed for his work with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga), this project reimagines the timeless tangos of Carlos Gardel with unmatched sonic precision.
Captured in acoustically perfect rooms using a world-class collection of vintage microphones—including industry legends like the Neumann U47 and Telefunken ELAM 251—the recordings feature an ensemble of virtuosos: Néstor Marconi on bandoneon, Cristian Zárate on piano, Humberto Ridolfi (Violin soloist from the Teatro Colón) on violin, Juan Pablo Navarro on double bass, and Esteban Falabella on guitar. This collaboration, at a studio that has hosted icons from Aretha Franklin to the Bee Gees, ensures a level of excellence that honors tradition while resonating globally.
Beyond the stage, Mario carries the rare heritage of a Master Piano Tuner, a craft that grants him a unique intimacy with musical harmony. Today, his interpretation of 'Anclao en París'—a song inherited from his grandfather—has resonated with new generations, becoming a digital phenomenon on TikTok with +36,000 views, proving that true Tango is timeless, universal, and more alive than ever.
